I was impressed with the discussion quality yesterday and the ideas about communication that were raised.

Today we started the class with a little recap of the events in the story and listed some of the characters we have been introduced to. The rest of the period was mostly devoted to reading and talking about the book.

Today we read and took notes up to PAGE 30.

To finish the class we began talking about the "rules" of communication in different situations. For example, we alter how we are in the presence of different people or in various places; we would not act and talk (hopefully) with the same mannerisms in the presence of an authority figure as we would with our best friends. This was a lead-in to a journal write that we will complete tomorrow dealing with the prompt:
Write about a time when the "rules" of communicating were unclear- when you were unsure of what was expected of you...

HOMEWORK: continue working on the process analysis (DUE TOMORROW!)
